Fulcrum Arts PUSD Artist In Residence, 2020-2021

The Pasadena Unified School District is one of only a few districts in the U.S. to engage students through a project-based learning initiative called the Senior Defense Portfolio. In order to graduate, PUSD high school seniors must create and present their own unique creativity-based project which addresses an academic subject.

PUSD Arts Education has invited Fulcrum Arts to bring four artists into classrooms to actively collaborate with science teachers on this pioneering educational model.

By offering direct contact with interdisciplinary artist educators to help students think through original ways of presenting their ideas, students have multiple resources for articulating their research and demonstrating their educational growth. For the Spring 2020 term, AxS artists-in-residence include Brittany Ransom, Dicky Bahto, Jenny Yurshansky, and Tom Hall.

The program will be managed by our new AxS Residency Coordinator Geneva Skeen.
